Frequently Asked Questions
“Still have a question? Book a free 15-minute call and we’ll be happy to help.”
Do I need a solicitor to obtain a consent order?
No. Many couples choose to reach a financial agreement with professional support outside the traditional solicitor-led process. Once agreement has been reached, a consent order can be drafted and submitted to the Family Court for approval.
What is a consent order?
A consent order is a legally binding document approved by a judge which records the financial settlement between divorcing couples.
Without a consent order, financial claims may remain open even after the divorce is finalised.
What if we have already reached an agreement?
If you have already agreed how your finances will be divided, the Agreement Reached package may be suitable. This includes reviewing the settlement, preparing the necessary documentation and providing guidance on court submission.
What if we are close to agreement but need help with a few remaining issues?
The Close to Agreement package is designed for couples who have largely agreed but would benefit from structured support to resolve the remaining points before a consent order is prepared.
What if we have not reached an agreement?
The Not Yet Agreed package provides structured negotiation support, financial disclosure guidance and assistance developing settlement proposals before preparing the final consent order.
What is a Case Review Session?
Every matter begins with a Case Review Session.
This allows us to understand your circumstances, discuss the options available, carry out any necessary suitability and safeguarding checks, and recommend the most appropriate route forward.
Do we both need to attend meetings together?
Not necessarily.
Some couples prefer a joint Case Review Session, while others prefer to meet individually first. The most appropriate approach can be discussed during the initial enquiry.
How long does the process take?
Timescales vary depending on the complexity of your circumstances and how quickly information is provided. Straightforward matters can often be completed within a few weeks, while more complex cases may take longer.
What happens if a pension sharing order is required?
Where appropriate, pension sharing provisions can be incorporated into the consent order package. Additional specialist advice may be recommended in some circumstances.
Are your fees fixed?
Yes.
All service packages are provided on a fixed-fee basis. This means there is no hourly billing and no unexpected charges for the work included within the chosen package.
Do you work throughout England and Wales?
Yes.
Meetings are conducted online, allowing support to be provided to clients throughout England and Wales.
What happens if we are not suitable for this process?
If it becomes clear that another route would be more appropriate, this will be discussed openly during the Case Review Session and guidance will be provided on the available options.
